HOUSTON DASH HEAD COACH FRAN ALONSO

On the victory:

"It's a very special day for the team. I thought the atmosphere created today was incredible. Both teams tried to get the win. At the end we got an amazing reward. They kept fighting and the players got the reward that I thought we deserved. Absolutely delighted for the players and very, very proud of them."

On the changes in the second half:

"Obviously we made a very important change. We swapped both center backs. I thought that gave us a very clean path to play out. Which was very, very important for us. We made them run a lot. They committed so many players to the first line of pressing. We were able to exploit a times the space they left behind. I highlight more the desire of the team. Even when the score was 2-2 in the 93rd minute, everyone was shouting from the bench, we wanted to win the game. The game was there for the taking and we we wanted to gamble, to be brave and not settle for a draw."

HOUSTON DASH FORWARD DIANA ORDONEZ

On scoring her first goals of the season:

"Really important. Coming off last year, my goal this year was to just build my confidence and trust the player that I am. The player that I showed that I could be my rookie year. Coming off a tough year last year, it feels really good to be able to come out of this game with two goals and well on my way to how many I scored last year. Personally, it felt really good. There's a lot of work to do and it doesn't matter who scores as long as we get the results."

On building her confidence:

"My confidence definitely took a hit last year. It was hard coming off a year like my rookie year. I knew I was probably never going to repeat that back-to-back. That's the goal in this league, to be consistent. I didn't do that last year. Obviously, a big part of my faith in my Christianity is making sure that I keep the first thing first and that my identity in Christ is what I focus on. Last year I attached my identity and my worth to how many goals I scored and how I was performing. I was in a really bad way for it. The focus going into this year was just remembering how many goals I score or what I do on the field doesn't define me, but it's more the way that I interact with people, the way that I speak the gospel, the way that I am in my quiet time and staying close to the Lord. Those things are, are going to take me way further than soccer will."
