Houston Dash vs Washington Spirit - Staff picks

The Houston Dash are back at home after the international break, hosting the Washington Spirit. We asked our staff to weigh in how the match up between the Dash and Spirit will go at Shell Energy Stadium tonight.

Rudy - 3-2 Dash win
(Record: 2-1)

One thing that we have learned so far about Fran Alonso is that defending isn’t necessarily a priority for his team. Therefore, I expect lots of goals in this match with Houston getting one more over the Spirit to give the team their first win at home under Alonso.

Manny - 2-1 Dash win
(Record: 2-1)

The Dash won their last game in the last seconds of stoppage time. It showed that this team, when they are focused on attack, can score and grind out a win. This game will be no different. The Spirit are great at opening teams up and scoring goals. It's going to be a high-scoring game. How much? We will see.

Dustyn - 2-2 draw
(Record: 1-2)

Washington are a good side, coming into Houston tonight on the heels of two wins. It feels like the Dash are starting to “get it” under Fran Alonso and his new system but I’m not sure they are quite ready to win a game like this one. Let’s go for something the neutrals will enjoy, a high-scoring draw.

Joey - 3-2 Dash win
(Record: 1-1)

As always, the Dash will look to play a wide open offensive game and that’ll lead to multiple goals by each side. I’m giving the slight edge to the Dash at home celebrating their 10th anniversary.
