Week 17 of Volt League is set to kick off. The season is winding down and there is still so much to play for. Here are this week’s match ups.

8 HOUSTON ROVERS v 10 FRANKFURT ATHLETIC

Rovers let a lead slip in the last match, so now they now get another chance to possibly get a shot at the last spot of the playoffs. Inter, Houstonians, and Seinfield are also on the same chase. Frankfurt, with a few games in hand, still have an opportunity to get out of the relegation spot. Sunday is do or die for the Green Eagles.

2 MAFC v 9 FC SEINFELD

For the first in the competition MAFC doesn’t hold the number one spot. With 2 games played less than Green Flag, they still have opportunities to create some distance from them once again. In front of them they will face a desperate FC Seinfeld that need 3 points to get away from the relegation playoff spot they occupy now.

3 AC JUNIORS v 4 FC NIGHT WATCH

Both team have already secured a spot in the playoffs but where you finish on the table could determine how difficult the road to a championship will be. Juniors dream of a direct semifinal berth but that means that they need to win their last two matches and hope either MAFC or Green Flag lose points along the way. The Blue Owls just look to finish in the best spot possible to have a “weaker” opponent in the first round of playoffs.

5 GHOSTTOWN SAINTS v 6 INTERNATIONAL SC

The Saints are only 1 point away from clinching a playoff spot heading into Sunday’s match. A tie with Inter will for sure help them, but for Inter it could complicate things dramatically. Many of the teams chasing that last spot still have a few games in hand and could possibly leave Inter out of the competition completely when those matches get played. Pressure is on Inter to get a result, let’s see if they come out to play.

1 GREEN FLAG FC v 7 HOUSTONIANS FC

Green Flag has been the surprise of the season, a whole new squad that quietly made their way to the top. With some injuries through the season they were able to still field a competitive team week in and week out. A team that has become a specialist at holding leads and hurting teams even when they seem to be breaking in the pressure of the rival’s attack. Counter attack beasts and a defensive powerhouse, they will look to continue their dominance in the league. Facing them will be Houstonians FC. The legendary Houston club still holds hope for that last playoff spot. But for that to happen they will have to be on their A game against the leaders of the league. Also, they will need to accumulate as many points  as possible with all the games they still have to be played. They have only played 14 out of 16, those two games missing are both against Frankfurt.

All the action will take place this Sunday, and you can catch all the action live on the Volt League YouTube channel.
