The Houston Dash kick off their 2026 season this Saturday on the road against the San Diego Wave. This much improved Dash team is filled with key players all over the pitch. Let’s take a look at who the three most important players might be this season.
Jane Campbell
Campell is the Houston Dash. The Houston Dash are Jane Campbell. Whichever way you want to slice it, the Dash captain is arguably the most important player on this team and in the club’s history. She struggled early on last season and was benched in favor of Abby Smith. After returning to the lineup, Campbell excelled and was among the league’s best shot stoppers. We’ve seen Jane put this team on her back in past seasons to single-handedly win them points. With an improved roster around her, that ability to add additional points could be the difference in this team making the postseason.
Danny Colaprico
An unsung hero in what has turned out to be a surprisingly strong Dash midfield, Danny Colaprico notched an 81.8% accurate pass percentage last season, well above the league average. She was also among the best in the league in total duels won as well as percentage of duels won. Colaprico is a reliable, strong force in this Dash midfield. She started all 26 league matches for Houston last season and is a mainstay in the lineup. Her veteran leadership should also serve as a great bridge to the team’s young talent.
Yazmeen Ryan
Ryan came to Houston in the offseason before last season high expectations. She finished her first season with the Dash with a team-high four goals and a joint team-high three assists. At 27 years old, Yaz is in her prime and this could be the season we see her break out, with even more attacking talent around her. She’s also playing to impress USWNT boss Emma Hayes ahead of next summer’s World Cup. Whether she plays centrally or in a wide area, Ryan should be the dynamo for this Dash squad in 2026.
