Three Players to Watch: Denver Summit FC

The Houston Dash return home to take on expansion side Denver Summit FC tomorrow night at Shell Energy Stadium. Here are three Denver players to keep an eye on in the match.

Abby Smith, Yazmeen Ryan, Delanie Sheehan

Ok, I cheated a little on this one but all three of these players played for the Dash last season and make their return to Shell Energy Stadium this weekend. Ryan and Sheehan were with Houston for the first match of the 2026 season before the big trade sent them to Denver. Smith has been fantastic for Denver, arguably in the early season Goalkeeper of the Year conversation. Ryan scored her first goal for Denver in last week’s 3-2 loss to fellow expanison club Boston. The versatile Sheehan has been playing mostly in a holding midfield role for Denver.

Melissa Kössler

The 26-year-old German joined Denver from TSG Hoffenheim in her home country. Her first season in the NWSL has gotten off to a great start as she slead the club with four goals, scoring in her first three matches. She stands five foot ten and is a physical striker with a real knack for goal. Kössler is not just a big target in the box, she drops to get involved in build-up play and can be dangerous from many areas on the field.

Tash Flint

Flint spent time with the Manchester City and Manchester United youth academies and bounced around clubs in her native England. She made the move to the United States in 2024, signing for Tampa Bay Sun ahead of the inaugural USL Super League season. She joined Denver in January on a short-term loan but has since joined the club permanently. Flint has three goals and two assists this season and is right at the heart of how the Summit attack.
