2025 in review

We honestly know very little about the defensive midfielder from the West African country of Mali. His best years came in Austria and Germany, playing for Salzburg and Hoffenheim, but since then his minutes have declined sharply. After some unsuccessful loan spells in Spain and back at Hoffenheim, Diadie was signed as a free agent through 2026, with a club option extending to 2028. He made one appearance for Houston, totaling one minute.

He played one minute. What do you want from us?

Looking forward

As we mentioned in our recap on Junior Urso, the club was likely looking to bring in a player with similar qualities but younger, and it seems Samassekou could fill that role as a depth option in the defensive midfield. Time will tell how much playing time he sees with a young Brooklyn Raines and veteran Artur ahead of him, but we can expect to see him step in when injuries occur or rotation is needed.
