The Houston Dynamo need points as they try and get back into the playoff spots in the Western Conference. We asked our staff for their predictions on tonight’s match against Austin FC.

Cristian - 2-0 Dynamo loss
(Record: 6-17)

As much as I want the Dynamo to pull off a much-needed win against a tough in-state, in-conference opponent, I have a hard time believing they have the cohesion to get it done in Austin.

Rudy - 2-1 Dynamo loss
(Record: 9-14)

The Houston Dynamo are in need of a big win after a disappointing Leagues Cup run. However, history shows they’ve struggled against Austin, both at home and on the road. While another win at Q2 Stadium would be a welcome boost, the odds point toward a tough result for Houston today.

Joey - 1-1 draw
(Record: 7-15)

Austin FC haven’t played a match in two weeks, which could give the Dynamo an edge, having played three times since Austin’s last outing and being in better match shape. Expect Houston to capitalize on some early rust, but ultimately fall short of securing all three points—just as has been the case in much of this season.

Dustyn - 1-1 draw
(Record: 7-16)

Austin hasn’t played in two weeks while the Dynamo are coming off whatever that was in the Leagues Cup. Both teams are fighting for positioning in the Western Conference and this should be a cagey derby.

Manny - 3-1 Dynamo loss
(Record 7-14)

Austin had a month off from regular season play and didn’t play in Leagues Cup, so they should be fresh and eager to return. The Dynamo may be more match-fit, but they’re still reeling from a poor Leagues Cup showing and working to recover. Their performances lately haven’t been convincing, and they continue to struggle to find the back of the net.
