Houston Dynamo at Colorado Rapids staff picks

The Houston Dynamo need three points as they visit the Mile High City tonight. We asked our staff for their predictions on tonight’s match against the Colorado Rapids.

Cristian - 3-1 Dynamo loss
(Record: 8-20)

Even though Houston’s strength has been playing on the road, Colorado is also desperate for three points to separate themselves from the rest of the playoff pack. That urgency, combined with their home-field advantage, could give the Rapids the edge tonight.

Rudy - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 10-18)

The Houston Dynamo have their backs against the wall heading into this weekend’s match against the Rapids. Given that Houston has been a stronger team on the road, I see them pulling out a win that will keep their hopes alive for at least one more week as the season winds down.

Joey - 2-2 draw
(Record: 9-17)

Both teams are fighting for the final playoff spots. The Dynamo have shown signs of momentum, while the Rapids have struggled since selling star midfielder Djordje Mihailovic to Toronto. His replacement, Paxten Aaronson, has now settled in and could pose problems for Houston. With so much at stake, dropping points here would put a dent in either team’s postseason hopes.

Dustyn - 1-0 Dynamo loss
(Record: 8-10)

A loss tonight wouldn’t be the final nail in the coffin, but the gravesite would start getting dug. The Dynamo will need to dig deep and prove how much more they want it than Colorado.

Manny - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record 8-18)

This is a must-win for the Dynamo, who remain within striking distance of the playoffs. Houston has shown they can hurt opponents but too often struggle to finish the job. They’ve actually been stronger on the road than at home, so they’ll be hoping to get it done tonight.
