Houston Dynamo at FC Dallas staff picks

Tonight marks the second edition of the 2025 Texas Derby, this time in Frisco. We asked our staff for their predictions on the Houston Dynamo taking on FC Dallas.

Cristian - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 3-10)

Hoping Wednesday's win against a solid but heavily rotated Minnesota side helps restore some confidence for the Orange. Winning in Frisco, hasn’t been easy—the Dynamo haven’t won there since 2011—but they're due for a breakthrough, and this is arguably the best team they've had in years.

Rudy - 2-2 draw
(Record: 5-8)

It’s difficult to say which team has the edge heading into this match. Dallas is well-rested, while Houston is coming off a midweek victory over Minnesota. The Dynamo need all the time they can get to build chemistry, especially with all the recent additions. One thing’s for sure — we should see plenty of goals.

Joey - 2-2 draw
(Record: 4-8)

The Dynamo are coming off a great midweek win that should build some confidence in this Houston side, especially with the two new defensive signings scoring goals. Stupidly, Dallas didn’t have a midweek game so they’ll have the edge in terms of rest. I think the Dynamo are just a better team right now but will struggle to beat a rested Dallas side.

Dustyn - 0-0 draw
(Record: 5-8)

The Dynamo have some momentum but Dallas has a full week of rest. Derbies can get cagey and tense and this feels like the kind of game where there are about 50 fouls and no goals.

Manny - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record 4-8)

This needs to be a statement win for the Dynamo. A midweek win against Minnesota should allow this team to upset the top teams in this league on their day. What is more important than doing it away at a derby? The new players, like Felipe Andrade and Ondrej Lingr, are starting to gel and making a huge impact. A win will get them back abovethe playoff line.
