HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN
On earning three points:
“We are excited. It is three points that are hard to come by against one of the best teams in this league. Defensively, I thought we gave a really collective effort, and we were hard to break down. It was a really good, solid performance from our guys.”
On catching LAFC at a vulnerable time:
“We caught (LAFC) at a good time. They have been on the road, and they looked – at times – a little tired. We were hoping for that. We needed to have more energy and outwork them. The guys did the best job we have done up to date as far as being patient in transition – still going fast, but not taking two or three passes. Instead, we took four or five passes and exploited them in transition. I thought we just did a better job of having controlled transition moments.”
On the success of the midfield:
“We have been bouncing in and out of structures and we have been figuring out this group, and what the best eleven is, and the best structure. This is the first time we have played the same way with the same group all year. That was important for this group in this moment – to still be flexible, but to find something that we can hang our hat on.”
HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER JACK MCGLYNN
On the match:
"It was a great performance. Coming into L.A. and winning 4-1 is special every time you do it. I was happy I could help by scoring my first two goals of the season. Hopefully, there is a lot more to come now.”
On his connection with Lawrence Ennali:
“It just shows the trust (Lawrence Ennali) has in me and all the teammates who have trust in me to score long-range goals because they know what I am capable of. Lawrence is an amazing player. I know he is going to beat his man, and I am going to be at the top of the box. We know that connection works, as it happened twice tonight. Hopefully, there is a lot more of that to come.”
On playing in front of Artur and Diadie Samassekou in the midfield:
“It is amazing. It suits me a lot having them in there always covering me and helping me out defensively. It has been really solid in there with us three not conceding a lot of chances. It allows me to push up the pitch and find the spots where I scored the goals today, so it gives me a lot more freedom to get the ball.”
On being back on the pitch and the ceiling of this team:
“It is great to be back. I have shown what I can do in the minutes that I have been playing, while still building up my fitness and strength in the muscles. It has definitely been a process, and you hate missing games, but to be back and playing the way I am is great. As far as our ceiling, it will go as far as we can take it defensively. We have been so solid not allowing a lot of chances against us, and we have the attack to score goals against a good team like we did tonight. As far as that can go, we will go.”
