The Houston Dynamo will try for their second road win in five days tonight. We asked our staff for their predictions on the match against Portland Timbers.
Cristian - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 13-10)
The Dynamo are riding high after a gritty win in Seattle. With some significant injuries for the Timbers, and with Ben Olsen back on the sidelines, if the team locks in they could pull off another win in the PNW. Extra motivation, the results from others in the conference mean that these three points puts the Dynamo in a home field advantage spot.
Rudy - 2-1 Dynamo loss
(Record: 6-18)
Houston Dynamo is coming off a historic first-ever win in Seattle, but back-to-back road games in the Pacific Northwest are never easy. I think this trip ends in defeat against Portland. Not because I expect Houston to play poorly, but I can see the Timbers finding a late winner as they fight to secure a playoff spot of their own.
Joey - 1-1 draw
(Record: 8-10)
The Dynamo finally got a much needed win in Seattle after a decade plus of failing to win there. The Dynamo also tend to struggle in Portland as well, only winning there three times in fifteen years. I don’t see them winning back to back road games in tough spots but also don’t think Portland are a strong enough team to beat this Dynamo team with a new bit of confidence inserted into them.
Dustyn - 1-1 draw
(Record: 9-15)
Portland is fighting for their playoff lives and they are going to give the Dynamo everything they can handle. This Houston team is gritty, and I think they can withstand everything the Timbers throw at them to come away with a point.
Manny - 1-0 Dynamo win
(Record 8-14)
The Dynamo made history midweek in Seattle and now they will have to get another win against Portland to secure a top seed for the playoffs. Can they do it? Yes, they have the ability to. We will see how the team comes out to play.
Juan - 2-0 Dynamo loss
(Record 11-10)
Portland is fighting for its life at home against a Houston Dynamo side that, despite a stunning away win against Seattle, hasn’t looked convincing in recent months. Portland will control the flow of the game, and I doubt Houston’s defense will hold for 90 minutes in the way it did against Seattle.
Dynastats - 1-1 draw
(Record 10-14)
The Dynamo may have gotten a shock result in the PNW this week, but it still remains an incredibly difficult place to play for Houston. I see the Dynamo splitting points at Portland for the first time since 2015 tonight.
