Houston Dynamo vs CF Montreal player ratings

The Dynamo had another disappointing 3-1 home loss, this time to CF Montreal. Let’s take a look at how everyone performed.
Starters
Jonathan Bond-6.5 (6.60 avg)
Bond conceded three goals while making two saves. None of the goals were on him and he did manage to make one really nice save in the game. The defense was way more at fault than Bond was in net.
Griffin Dorsey-7.5 (7.17 avg)
Dorsey is one of the few players who can be proud of himself after that pathetic performance. He had three tackles and was able to create two real chances in the game.
Obafemi Awodesu-2.5 (5.5 avg)
This was yet another Femi disaster. I am not sure who he was defending on either of the first two goals but it certainly was not Montreal striker Prince Owusu.
Pablo Ortiz-3 (5.33 avg)
Another game where Ortiz failed to look good partnering Femi in the back. He was all over the place and looked lost.
Felipe Andrade-1.5 (5.79 avg)
That was an utter disaster for the entire game for Felipe. Montreal clearly marked him as the weakness and took advantage of his inexperience all game long.
Artur-3.5 (6.42 avg)
It is starting to get very worrying with Artur this season and beyond. This was another game where he was just almost nonexistent and got caught on the counter way too often. He had poor leadership as well from a captain’s standpoint.
Junior Urso-7.5 (6.81 avg)
A similar story to Artur, where he was just not involved enough in transition plays and it burnt the defense. The numbers look a lot better then it was for both midfielders.
Ondrej Lingr-8.5 (6.65 avg)
This is the player that was brought in to seriously improve the Dynamo attack. He was easily the most involved offensive player and topped it off with a fantastic goal. You love seeing him take five shots in this game and being the main point of attack.
Amine Bassi-6 (6.53 avg)
This was a very average game from Amine. He certainly was nowhere near the reason they lost but just didn’t do enough to lift his team offensively. It is nice to see him start to learn how to play with Lingr.
Sebastian Kowalczyk-4.5 (6.24 avg)
This was a very dull way to follow up his incredible goal and performance against Kansas City. He just never got involved enough or look dangerous in any meaningful way.
Ezequiel Ponce-4.5 (5.84 avg)
Something just looks off about Ponce recently and it may be the injury he has been playing through. He just didn’t get involved enough. He was still solid as always off the ball.
Substitutes
Franco Escobar-5.5 (7.61 avg)
Escobar came on to play center back in the second half. He certainly wasn’t a disaster like Femi, but he wasn’t great either.
Nicolas Lodeiro-8 (6.45 avg)
Lodeiro looked what we expected him to be at this stage in his career. We hoped he’d be a great impact sub to bring on to create through set pieces and link up play. He has failed to do that most of his Houston career, but he looked great in that role against Montreal, creating multiple chances and grabbing an assist.
Lawrence Ennali-5.5
Lawrence is still clearly nowhere near full fitness. He added some energy but never really did anything meaningful with the ball.
Gabe Segal and Duane Holmes-N/A
Neither player played enough minutes to warrant a rating.
Head Coach
Ben Olsen-7.5 (7.3 avg)
Ben got the game plan right but got the lineup completely wrong in defense. Starting Andrade over Escobar again was a head scratching decision that blew up in his face. He made the right subs, but it was just not enough after the defensive mistakes in the first half had them chasing the game.
