The start of the 2026 season is here. We asked our staff for their predictions on tonight’s match between the Houston Dynamo and Chicago Fire.
Cristian - 3-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 0-0)
Houston’s fire power and Chicago’s injuries might be the main factors for my predicted scoreline. I am really high on the amount of good attackers the Dynamo have racked up this offseason. Chicago will get a goal due to the lack of familiarity of some of the newest additions on the defensive side of the ball.
Rudy - 3-2 Dynamo win
(Record: 0-0)
Houston has a brand new starting lineup but the squad seems to be gelling during the preseason matches. This team was built to score goals, and I think they will do just that. However, Griffin Dorsey’s departure will likely see the back line chemistry take a hit on match day one. Chicago is missing some key pieces, therefore I see Houston starting off in the right direction.
Joey - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 0-0)
Chicago have some injuries and will not have some of their best players from the start like ;eft back Andrew Gutman or maybe even winger Jonathan Bamba. With a packed stadium, the Dynamo should be able to put together a good performance to excite fans for this upcoming season.
Dustyn - 1-1 draw
(Record: 0-0)
The Dynamo were unbeaten in preseason but I want to see how they look when the bright lights are on. Chicago’s injuries make them ripe for the taking here but I think this new look Houston lineup takes some time to gel and picks up just a point in the opener.
Manny - 3-1 Dynamo win
(Record 0-0)
An unrecognizable and new Dynamo will face and injured Chicago side for the home opener. Houston is undefeated in the preseason and is scoring goals! Yes, you heard it, goals! Many will have questions on who will cover the right side with Griffin Dorsey’s departure but it’s still early in the season so they can figure that out as it goes. I see a comfortable win for the Dynamo.
Juan - 2-0 Dynamo win
(Record 0-0)
The Griffin Dorsey departure and Artur’s long-term injury both hurt Houston’s chances in the short-term. However, Chicago Fire’s mini-injury crisis makes this the perfect opportunity for Houston to start the season off strong. The key for the Dynamo will be the defense. Last year, early defensive struggles led to dropped points. Will the same happen again?
Dynastats - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record 0-0)
The Dynamo will take an early lead but this well experienced Chicago team will come back to make it 1 each at the half. Houston will net a late winner off a corner.
