The Houston Dynamo picked up a point at home against the Colorado Rapids with a 2-2 draw. Let’s take a look at how everyone performed.

Starters

Jonathan Bond-6.5

Bond had a solid debut in goal for the Dynamo. He was nothing special, but he made the saves he needed to make. Neither goal was his fault at all.

Griffin Dorsey-8 (7 avg)

Dorsey was excellent in this game, creating many chances running down the right wing. He played a massive role in the opening goal of the game with a great pass to Sebastian Kowalczyk. So much of the positive play came through the right side with Dorsey.

Erik Sviatchenko-8 (7 avg)

Erik was brilliant for the entire time he was on the field. It was sad that he had to come off with yet another injury. Not surprising, the defense fell apart after his substitution.

Obafemi Awodesu-1.5 (6.17 avg)

Ouch! What a terrible game from Obafemi where he reminded us of his inexperience. There was no reason for him to put in that challenge that gave away the penalty. He also looked like a practice cone as Rafael Navarro glided past him for the second goal.

Franco Escobar-8.5 MOTMx4 (7.81 avg)

Is this a shock to anyone? Escobar was incredible yet again on both sides of the ball. He was not very effective for a large part of the game going forward. However, he popped up with an assist in the dying minutes to steal a point.

Artur-7.5 (6.94 avg)

Another vintage Artur display where he controlled the midfield very well. He made two tackles and three interceptions and kept Djordje Mihailovic quiet in the first half.

Brooklyn Raines-7.5

That was much better from Raines! His first start was very rough, but he put in a very solid display this weekend. He contributed much more defensively, which was my big gripe on him last week.

Amine Bassi-8.5 (6.61 avg)

Bassi followed up last week’s great game with a goal and a fantastic performance defending from the front. His pressing was exceptional throughout the whole match. His creative display left a lot to be desired, however.

Sebastian Kowalczyk-7 (6.5 avg)

Kowalczyk had a fairly solid game, creating the opening goal with a simple but effective layoff pass. He disappeared in the second half before eventually being subbed off.

Jack McGlynn-8.5 (7.25 avg)

Jack continued this great patch of form with yet another fantastic game. He had fourteen progressive passes and seven shot creating actions including the pass leading to Escobar’s game leveling assist.

Ezequiel Ponce-4.5 (6.11 avg)

Ponce just did not get involved enough in this game. The chances just never seemed to come to him, so he was isolated for a lot of the game. Not a great display.

Substitutes

Ethan Bartlow-1 (5.2 avg)

Ethan came into the game while the Dynamo were in full control. He then gave the ball away and left his teammates in the dust for Colorado’s second goal of the game.

Ondrej Lingr-8

Lingr had a great debut, scoring the late equalizing goal. He got very involved in the attack with the two shots on target and was the center piece of the attack the last sixteen minutes.

Nico Lodeiro and Ibrahim Aliyu-N/A

Neither played enough minutes to warrant a rating. It was interesting to see Aliyu brought in to Dorsey’s role and it could be a way to find him more minutes.

Head Coach

Ben Olsen-7.5 (7.11 avg)

Ben continues doing the best with what he’s got. As soon as he finally gets a proper goalkeeper in, Erik Sviatchenko goes down again. When will it ever end? He made the right subs and ultimately got a point out of what looked like another incoming loss.
