The Houston Dynamo are back at Shell Energy Stadium tonight, looking for three points at home. We asked our staff for their predictions on the match against D.C. United.

Cristian - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 8-4)

Fresh start for both teams with several new faces on their rosters. Ultimately, I think this match will come down to a strong collective defensive effort from the Orange and a productive night in attack from the newcomer acquired from Orlando. Could the Jack McGlynn-Duncan McGuire duo make an immediate impact tonight?

Rudy - 3-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 3-10)

Houston made the most of the break, and the team enters this match looking fit, healthy, and ready to go. The weather conditions should also favor the Dynamo against a D.C. United side that made several moves to strengthen its squad for the second half of the season. Even so, I think Houston has the quality to earn a big win against Ben Olsen's former club.

Joey - 3-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 5-4)

D.C. United are off to an odd start to the season with some impressive wins and horrible road losses, conceding a lot of goals in the process. The Dynamo have a new striker and a level of excitement with the squad for the rest of the season. We saw the last time the Dynmao had a midseason break in 2023 under Ben Olsen, they really kicked on in the second half of the season and I expect the same again.

Dustyn - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 3-10)

The Dynamo have talked all season about finishing top four in the Western Conference. If they are going to do that, this is a game they should be winning. I think Houston holds on late and picks up three points in the return to MLS play.

Manny - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record 4-8)

The first match after the league restart comes against a tough D.C. United side, and there are plenty of unknowns heading into this one. Can the Dynamo put together a strong run of results? Will the returning players and new additions make an immediate impact? It should be an entertaining match, and if Houston can rediscover its finishing touch in front of goal, I like the Dynamo's chances to come away with the win.

Juan - 2-2 draw
(Record 6-7)

I wouldn't be surprised if neither team is eager to dominate possession in this matchup. Instead, the side that can transition quickly and get the ball to its striker and attacking playmakers will likely have the edge. It'll also be exciting to see how Lawrence Ennali, Mateusz Bogusz, and Duncan McGuire begin to build chemistry in Houston's attack.

Dynastats - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record 7-6)

D.C. are a team that is built on playing on the counter, and I see them sitting back and looking to hit the Dynamo on the break. While D.C.’s counter attacks will cause issues at the back, I see the Dynamo getting a late winner to start with second half of the season with a W.
