Matchday 2 brings a big test for Houston. We asked our staff for their predictions on tonight’s match between the Houston Dynamo and LAFC.
Cristian - 2-2 draw
(Record: 1-0)
LAFC, an annual contender loaded with superstars, arrive fresh off a 3-0 victory over another league heavyweight in Inter Miami. Houston, meanwhile, is determined to turn Shell Energy Stadium into a fortress in 2026 and prove they can go toe-to-toe with MLS favorites. It should be a tight one.
Rudy - 3-3 draw
(Record: 2-0)
Houston’s start to the season was positive, while Los Angeles once again look like a club capable of adding more silverware to their trophy case. However, Ben Olsen has found ways to get results against LAFC before, and the Dynamo are showing they can score goals. Expect an open, high-scoring battle and taking a point against a team in this kind of form would be a solid result.
Joey - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 1-0)
Dustyn - 4-1 Dynamo loss
(Record: 0-1)
This LAFC team is among the best we have seen in MLS. They dismantled Miami last weekend and laid down a marker for the rest of the league to try and catch up to. The Dynamo are much better this year but this is a huge mountain to climb. Then again, I was the only one on our staff that didn’t pick a win last week and look how that turned out.
Manny - 3-1 Dynamo loss
(Record 1-0)
After a high-energy comeback against Chicago, Houston now faces a loaded LAFC side. The Dynamo grew into the match last week after a slow start, but they’ll need to be sharper from the opening whistle this time. LAFC had little trouble dispatching a strong Miami squad and will look to bring that same ruthlessness to Houston.
Juan - 2-0 Dynamo loss
(Record 1-0)
LAFC look like an early-season favorite to win MLS Cup, and the Dynamo are still figuring out their groove with many new players. Houston will keep it close, but they’ll struggle to control the tempo and create chances against this LAFC team.
Dynastats - 2-1 Dynamo loss
(Record 1-0)
The Dynamo are a good side but will struggle in their back three against this strong LAFC attack. Bouanga grabs a brace and Ponce gets his first of the season.
