HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN
On the result:
"The Open Cup is never the way you draw it up. That's the most consistent thing about the Open Cup - it's always a grind. And on any run like this - you have a game like this - and they're hard. I talk about the lineup and trying to share minutes and think ahead for Colorado, but we also put a group out there that can get the job done. We had a good start. The missed PK was a little ominous - that would have made the game a lot easier. But, this is the Open Cup.”
On the performance from Louisville City FC:
“I thought that their goalkeeper played very well tonight. He made a couple big time saves, including the PK. And they're a good team. They're gutsy. They were rested. They looked like they had a little bit more energy than us. Again, a lot of those guys were rested, so some of that's normal. Our quality was okay. It just was a little bit off of the tempo that we needed to play with, and we continued to need better ideas on how to create more opportunities. We had 10 shots on goal, 22 shots. That's good, but I think we could have created higher quality chances with just a little bit more quality.”
On Hector Herrera coming in and changing the match:
“You're spot on there. I thought he came in and gave us exactly what he does: it's breaking down low pressure. It's circulating the ball and having different ideas. And he also understood that sometimes you just serve the frickin' ball; that's what we needed to do more. He has a sense of what the game needs, because he's (played) hundreds of games, and at a high level, and he just is one of the guys that's able to process what's going on. But, uh, he played a lot of minutes on the weekend, and he is 35 years old. So, we have to also be careful with his minutes. But, again, I thought he came in and did a good job, and it was unfortunate they scored right before. But overall, he did a very good job of settling the game.”
