The Houston Dynamo will try to get points at home as they welcome Minnesota United to Shell Energy Stadium. We asked our staff for their predictions on tonight’s match.
Cristian - 3-1 Dynamo loss
(Record: 3-9)
Minnesota is on a hot streak both at home and on the road. Meanwhile, the Dynamo are still trying to solidify their back line after 12 weeks of play, battling injuries and integrating new players. Tonight is no different, as several key defenders are sidelined due to suspensions or injuries. On the attacking front, our friend @Dynastats highlighted that the Dynamo rank last in xG. Finding the back of the net would be a much-needed breakthrough.
Rudy - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 4-8)
Call me crazy, but I’m once again picking Houston to win 2-1 at home. If the Dynamo hope to turn their season around, they have to beat a red-hot Minnesota United side. The team can score goals—but they’ll need to clean things up on the defensive end and avoid self-inflicted errors that could spoil the match.
Joey - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 3-8)
If the Dynamo can play like they did before the red card against Seattle, they should be able to take down a hot Minnesota team. Femi’s suspension is a blessing as he’s been bleeding points from this team in the last few weeks.
Dustyn - 1-1 draw
(Record: 5-7)
I don’t see how the Dynamo win this game with their suspensions and injuries on defense and an offense that still looks like it doesn’t know where the goal is. With that being said, this team still has fight in them so it would not surprise me to see them grind out a draw.
Manny - 4-0 Dynamo loss
(Record 4-7)
Unlike Rudy, call me a realist. Minnesota just handed Inter Miami a thrashing—even with Lionel Messi on the field. This Minnesota team has only lost two games all season. The Dynamo have attacking threats and can challenge opponents, but with key players missing from the back line, it’s going to be prime pickings for Minnesota.
