HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN

On the result:

“This is a great three points. It really was a great night in the end. It was an entertaining game with a lot of goals and drama, and hopefully we sent fans home happy and excited about this team and what we are positively building here. I am extremely proud of the group, and the coaching staff did a good job making adjustments. I thought Héctor Herrera came in for the second half to change the game and did a good job of calming it down after it became a transition game, and the guys followed him to a great result.”

On the team’s resilience:

“We spent months building this team. We want guys that can win now, make plays, have personality and have experienced everything that this crazy game has to offer. This year, we are better in the box and the final third, and that gives you a chance in this league. Everybody is doing their part, and that is what we are going to need. A win like this goes a long way.”

On Felipe Andrade’s performance:

“Felipe (Andrade) has not been back that long. He played with Dynamo 2 for a couple of games, and those minutes really helped him and us. The bye week also helped him get back into his rhythm, and he played really well tonight. His goal was great from outside of the box, and that is not usually what we are asking him to do, but he is a winner. Felipe’s competitive spirit is awesome, he is such a great defender and he is good on the ball too. It was a really good game, and he came in clutch for us today.”

On Diadie Samassekou’s performance:

“Diadie had a great game in his first start for us at the Club. Last year, it took him a little while to get up to speed and was not playing much, but this preseason was good for him, as he improved and increased his fitness. This was not an easy task today, but he broke up a lot of plays, connected a lot of passes and put out fires. It is a lot for a holding midfielder to do all that work, but it was a big step for him with this Club.”

HOUSTON DYNAMO ATTACKING MIDFIELDER MATEUSZ BOGUSZ

On the result:

“I am very happy with tonight’s result. We did run into little trouble in the first half, but we were able to figure it out, which resulted in a better second half performance. Unfortunately, we did play with one player down towards the end of the match, but we were still motivated to get the win. I am also very happy with scoring my first goal with the club.”

On his game-winning goal:

“I am very happy about it. I came close to scoring the last two matches, but I was not able to capitalize on those situations. I could not imagine a better situation to give my team three points in the last minute with one player down. It is a nice feeling, and I hope to keep it going.”

On playing in Houston for the Dynamo:

“I am happy to be in Houston. The fans have really made me feel welcome. I love the city, the stadium and the supporters. I just cannot wait to keep playing more games here and give the fans my all.”

On what these kind of nights mean to him:

“It means a lot to me. I came to MLS to play good soccer and to enjoy life. I will always remember these types of moments, as it keeps me motivated to keep pushing for more. When things look good on the field, I feel like my life is easier.”
