Houston Dynamo vs Portland Timbers staff picks

The Houston Dynamo are at home looking for a win to stay in the playoff hunt. We asked our staff for their predictions on tonight’s match against the Portland Timbers.

Cristian - 2-1 Dynamo loss
(Record: 9-20)

Portland has always been a tough matchup for Houston. With the Thorns looking to solidify their place in the playoff picture, they’ll come out swinging. Houston, meanwhile, despite playing good soccer for stretches, has struggled to grind out results lately—especially at home.

Rudy - 1-1 draw
(Record: 10-19)

With questions surrounding Houston’s starting lineup due to injuries and suspensions, it’s hard to see them pulling out a win at home tonight. Portland aren’t in juggernaut form either, so the parity might be too close to break. A draw feels most likely.

Joey - no pick
(Record: 9-18)

Dustyn - 2-1 Dynamo loss
(Record: 9-20)

I just don’t have much confidence in this team stepping up and getting a result with this run of form they’re in. Of course, they’ll probably prove me wrong and get a multi-goal win to keep things interesting.

Manny - 2-1 Dynamo loss
(Record 8-19)

Facing Portland right now feels like bad timing for the Dynamo. With injuries piling up and suspensions taking their toll, Portland will look to capitalize on a depleted Houston side to strengthen their playoff push. The Dynamo have the same ambitions, but the challenge ahead is a steep one.
