HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN
On the result:
“This was a tough result because it was our best performance of the year. I am disappointed for the guys because everyone put in a good shift, and they knew they were playing a good team. On the day, we were the better team, but they are hard to beat. They defend the box well, and you have to earn goals against them. If you do not do that, they are obviously good enough to sneak one. We did limit them to good chances, and we did build the game well, which is what we have worked on over the past two weeks. There were some great performances from our team. It was a good day, and everything was there except for some of the final stuff.”
On positive player performances:
“(Guilherme) had a good day, and he is a handful. He is definitely a game changer, and I am happy he is here. Felipe (Andrade) had his best game yet. He was incredible and had a really good day. (Agustín) Bouzat put in a lot of work, and (Diadie Samassekou) had a good day too despite neither of them having 90 minutes in a while. Lawrence (Ennali) and Duane (Holmes) got into some good spots, and we are still looking for final product out of those two because of how many times they earned final third opportunities. (Ezequiel) Ponce connected play too. Again, it just was not our day in the final third. I do not have any big revelation on why we did not score. We just did not earn it, we were not clever enough and we did not have the quality on the night. Seattle is also one of the best teams in the league at defending in the box, and they did a good job tonight.”
On positive takeaways:
“The positives are, the last two weeks, we have worked on a lot of things that we saw tonight. There were lot of positives in the build and in the low block defending. Both mid-blocks were good offensively and defensively. Everybody gave a great effort, but we just did not score the goals. But yes, there are a lot of positives. Mostly, everybody played well and played up to the highest level they could have. The players gave everything. The negative is that we did not score enough goals.”
HOUSTON DYNAMO DEFENDER ANTONIO CARLOS (TRANSLATED FROM SPANISH)
On the result:
“It was not our night. We were at home, yet we are leaving without points, and you know that every point earned in this league is crucial. We need to come away with at least a point.”
On what the team can improve:
“We need to improve our finishing a bit more so that we can score goals, while at the same time defend well. We have a tough match ahead against Colorado, and then El Paso in the U.S. Open Cup. We have to work really hard this week.”
On looking ahead:
“We have to get to work this week. We have one week before heading to Colorado, and only through hard work can we improve. We are going to keep moving forward and get the victory in Colorado.”
