After a tight and difficult matchup against Austin FC II, Houston Dynamo 2 had another tough matchup away from home against Real Monarchs. Monarchs came into this match with Houston having only lost one match all season. This game also marked the return of Mexican wonderkid Matthew Arana to the squad.

This was another game in which Houston struggled to maintain full control of the tempo, but some outstanding individual performances from Pedro Cruz, Jahmani Bell, and others secured three away points for the men in orange.

The attacking momentum was on Real Monarch’s side for the first half, but Pedro Cruz made all of his seven saves in the half to keep the clean sheet alive. His performance was recognized by the league; he was named as the Pro Player of Matchweek 7 by MLS NEXT Pro.

Dos broke through in the 73rd minute thanks to a goal from Jahmani Bell, with the assist coming from Samir Mohammad. Mohammad was able to break through the defensive line and lay a clean pass to Bell in the middle of the box, and the youngster was able to net the opener and give Dynamo 2 a 1-0 lead.

Monarchs generated some threats after the Dynamo 2 goal, but Houston’s defense held firm, and they were able to secure their fifth regulation-time win of the season.

Next up, Dynamo Dos will travel to Kansas City to face off against Sporting KC II on April 26. Fans will be able to watch the match for free through YouTube or the OneFootball app.
