Three Players to Watch: Seattle Sounders

The Houston Dynamo face another strong test on Saturday night as they take on a balanced and dangerous Seattle Sounders side. However, Seattle’s lineup could look a bit different, with potential rotation as they manage minutes ahead of a midweek CONCACAF Champions Cup clash against Tigres. Even with changes, Seattle has the depth to remain a threat across the field.
Andrew Thomas
Thomas has been a reliable presence in goal, after taking over for long-time starter Stefan Frei, showing strong shot-stopping ability and command of his box. He’s also comfortable playing out from the back, which allows Seattle to stay composed in possession. For Houston, putting him under pressure and forcing quick decisions will be key to creating opportunities.
Paul Rothrock
Rothrock has been one of Seattle’s most active attacking threats early on. He makes intelligent runs, finds dangerous pockets of space, and is consistently involved in the final third. His direct style and work rate can stretch defenses, so the Dynamo will need to track his movement, especially in transition moments. He seems to always play well against Houston and end up on the score sheet.
Albert Rusnak
Rusnak is the creative engine in Seattle’s midfield. He controls the tempo, connects play, and has the vision to break down defenses with his passing. He’s also capable of getting forward and contributing goals himself. Houston’s midfield must stay compact and limit his time on the ball to prevent him from dictating the match.
