Welcome back to the Bayou City Soccer Podcast! This week, the guys break down a pair of gritty Houston victories, starting with a dramatic showdown against Louisville City FC and a hard-fought result against the Colorado Rapids.

Houston was pushed to the brink midweek, needing a last-minute equalizer from Erik Sviatchenko to keep their hopes alive against Louisville. That goal sent the match into extra time, where Ezequiel Ponce stepped up to deliver the winner and punch Houston’s ticket to the quarterfinals, where they’ll face St. Louis City SC.

Then on Saturday, Houston got their revenge against Colorado, grinding out a disciplined 1–0 win at Shell Energy Stadium. The result marks five wins in their last six matches, a clear sign this team is hitting form at the right time.

Now, all eyes turn to Sunday’s clash with Los Angeles FC, as Houston looks to keep the momentum rolling heading into the upcoming World Cup break.
