Squad Shakeup
Many fans had questions when they saw Yazmeen Ryan and Delanie Sheehan benched for the season opener. It all made sense when headlines confirmed both players had completed a major transfer to Denver Summit FC. While it was strong business for the club, it does leave gaps in the squad. Will the rookies step into larger roles? Will Kate Faasse’s injury impact depth in the attack? Or can others rise to make a difference? This weekend’s match should provide some answers.
Finding Consistency
The season-opening win marked a significant step for the club’s culture, as it was their first opening-day victory since 2017 and first ever one the road. Now, the challenge is building on it. Head coach Fabrice Gautrat emphasized the importance of finding consistency, especially early in the season. The Dash showed strong form late in the 2025 NWSL campaign, going undefeated at home and staying unbeaten until mid-September. There’s no better time than now to put together a run and collect points toward a playoff push.
The Unknown with Boston
Boston Legacy has just one professional match to evaluate, but it offered insight into their style. They’re comfortable sitting back, allowing possession, and looking to strike on the counter while using the pace of Assiata Traore and Ella Stevens to catch opponents off guard. They also aren’t shy about physical defending and employing the darker arts of the game, something less common in today’s style of play. The Dash will need to stay alert, while capitalizing on opportunities as they come.
