Following the departure of Diana Ordóñez and Messiah Bright struggling to provide consistent goals — the Dash shifted their focus by acquiring Clarissa Larisey from Crystal Palace FC during the summer break. The main concern surrounding her arrival was that she had gone scoreless in her previous season with Palace.

Despite that, her pace and ability to separate from defenders showed flashes of potential that the Dash can look to build upon. Her impact this season was limited, however, as she worked to regain match fitness during the critical stretch of the NWSL campaign.

Moment of the season

Larisey’s standout moment of the season came in her first start for the Dash against the San Diego Wave — a match where she recorded her first goal and first assist, all within the first half. She rewarded the coaching staff’s trust by finding space early and calmly finishing to open the scoring in the 17th minute. Later, she used her pace and agility to beat defenders and set up Yazmeen Ryan for an assist. It was an impressive performance that offered a glimpse of the potential fans hope to see more of in the future.

Looking forward

Larisey appears to be the central striker the Dash plan to build around for next season and beyond. She showed encouraging moments on the field that suggest her potential to make a real impact. Like many midseason arrivals, she faced challenges adapting on the fly, but with a full preseason and the opportunity to start fresh from day one, she could be poised for a breakout campaign.
