2025 in review

At the start of the year, the Dash acquired Bright from Angel City FC for $100K. Originally brought in to provide depth behind Diana Ordóñez, she was quickly thrust into a starting role after Ordóñez’s injury and subsequent departure. As a result, Bright carried much of the attacking responsibility for the majority of the season.

While she wasn’t the most clinical striker in front of goal, her overall contribution to Fabrice Gautrat’s system was undeniable. She consistently displayed unselfish play, using her pace and defensive instincts to press high, recover possession, and create transition opportunities. Her work rate and willingness to adapt made her a reliable option, even if the final product in front of goal remains an area for growth heading into next season.

Moment of the season

Her quick change of pace and ability to get in behind the defense were exactly what Dash fans had been hoping to see. Her goal against Bay FC was a glimpse of that potential — she took on the defender, cut inside onto her left foot, and placed a composed finish into the corner. It came early in the season and felt like the beginning of something more, but unfortunately, those moments proved to be too few and far between.

Looking forward

During the summer break, Bright signed a contract extension with the Dash that keeps her in Houston through 2026, with a team option for 2027. While the new deal confirms she’ll remain with the club next season, her on-field production has left something to be desired, raising questions about whether the Dash might eventually explore other options in the striker position.
