2025 in review

Campbell’s 2025 season got off to a rough start. She began the year letting in more goals than she should have, according to post-shot xG and was benched for Abby Smith after a 2-1 home loss against Racing Louisville. Being a leader and captain, Campbell didn’t take that as a setback and worked her way back into the lineup.

Her second stint went much better as Campbell proved to be one of the best goalkeepers over the second half of the season. Even after a rocky start to the year, Campbell ended up finishing 7th in the NWSL with a +3.4 post-shot XG plus/minus, meaning she was expected to allow 3.4 more goals than she did. Campbell ended the season with two milestones in the loss against Portland. She ecliped 15,000 minutes played and made her 600th save, all while playing for Houston.

Moment of the season

Campbell returned from injury and made six saves and kept a clean sheet in the Dash’s big 1-0 win over the Kansas City Current in October. KC had over 1.6 xG in the match but Campbell came up big when called on against the best offense in the NWSL to help Houston to a statement win as they look forward to 2026.

Looking forward

The captain signed a long-term contract extension last season and hearing how much she loves Houston and this club, I would expect her to end her career here, whenever that time may come. She’ll be the starting goalkeeper for 2026 and with her run of good form and Abby Smith out of contract, it looks to be a slam dunk that she’'ll be in net when the new season kicks off, and for many more to come.
