2025 in review

Katie Lind entered her fifth season with the Houston Dash looking to reestablish herself as the vocal leader of the back line following her return from maternity leave in 2024. With her experience and composure, she was expected to anchor the defense and provide leadership under new head coach Fabrice Gautrat. Early in the season, Lind embraced that responsibility, starting the first 12 matches and even wearing the captain’s armband when goalkeeper Jane Campbell was temporarily benched.

However, as the season progressed, the coaching staff continued to adjust defensive lineups in search of consistency. Despite her leadership qualities, Lind eventually found herself out of the starting rotation, making just one start in the final 14 matches. It was a difficult stretch for a player who had long been a reliable and respected presence for the club.

Moment of the season

Lind’s best moment came on the road against Seattle Reign, where her defensive positioning and communication helped the Dash secure a clean sheet and a valuable three points. It was a reminder of the steady influence she brings when given the opportunity to lead from the back.

Looking forward

As the 2025 season concluded, Lind’s contract with the Houston Dash expired, and she was listed among the club’s eligible free agents eligible to negotiate new Standard Player Agreements for 2026. Whether or not she returns, Lind’s legacy in Houston is firmly established — a true professional, a leader on and off the field, and one of the most respected players to wear the Dash jersey. If this marks the end of her time in orange, she leaves behind lasting memories and a strong example for the next generation of players.
