2025 in review
Puntigam provided veteran depth for the Houston Dash early on in 2025, giving head coach Fabrice Gautrat an option off the bench in midfield or defense. Once Maggie Graham went on the season-ending injury list in September, Puntigam became a starter.
The Austrian international is a strong defender in midfield and along with Danielle Colaprico, gave Houston a shield in midfield in front of the back line. In addition to her defensive abilities, Puntigam can pick out a pass to spur an attack and get offensive players into dangerous areas.
Moment of the season
Puntigam played the full 90 minutes in the Dash’s 1-0 win over the Chicago Stars in September and put in her best shift of the season. She completed a team-high 38 passes and added in 8 shot-creating actions, also the most on the team. Her 60 touches were also the most of any Houston players, showing the veteran can still take over and control a match when needed.
Looking forward
Puntigam turned 33 last month and she is under contract through the 2026 season. With Colaprico and Graham both back next season and likely the two starting midfielders, Puntigam will go back to a veteran, depth role. Puntigam is well-liked in the locker room and her international experience is valuable as this Dash team looks to compete next season.
