2026 in review
Chapman entered the season knowing she would likely serve as the backup to Lisa Boattin. However, she found herself in the mix for several matches as the Italian international struggled to establish herself in the starting lineup.
Chappy started nine games and at times found it difficult to keep up with some of the younger attacking players. She was also almost nonexistent going forward, which, as a fullback in today’s game, is not a good thing.
Moment of the season
Chapman’s best performance came against Bay FC back in the summer. She started and played 83 minutes in what would be a 1-0 victory for Houston, making seven defensive contributions before Boattin came on to replace her.
Looking forward
Chapman’s contract comes to an end this year. While the team has the option to pick up her contract for next season, I find it difficult not to think that the 37-year-old may be ready to hang up her boots.
But we’ll see what happens.
