2026 in review

Campbell bounced back from and up-and-down 2025 to reassert herself as one of the best goalkeepers in the National Women’s Soccer League. She led the NWSL with 125 saves and was second only to Ann-Katrin Berger in save percentage at 74%.

The Dash captain also led NWSL with a staggering -8.83 goals minus expected goals, meaning she saved nearly nine more goals than expected. She conceded 40 goals (not counting own goals) on nearly 49 expected goals, according to data from American Soccer Analysis. Despite the Dash’s struggles, Campbell had a remarkable season and should be the frontrunner for NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year, an award she previously won in 2023.

Moment of the season

Campbell made nine saves and posted a clean sheet in the Dash’s season-opening 1-0 victory on the road against San Diego Wave. The Houston captain was a brick wall in goal, allowing no goals despite 1.63 xG from San Diego’s 19 shots. Campbell would later go on to one up that performance in her number of saves when she made ten in another road victory, September’s 2-1 win over Boston Legacy.

Looking forward

Campbell isn’t going anywhere. The captain is the Houston Dash. There have been a number of regime changes (with another coaching change set for this offseason) but the one constant has been Campbell. She will be the starting goalkeeper again next season as she will look to try and earn a spot on the United States Women’s National Team for next summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
