HOUSTON DASH HEAD COACH FABRICE GAUTRAT
On the match:
"Overall, disappointed with the loss. We played a very good team. I think there was just a moment of brilliance that kind of made the difference. Overall, a solid defensive performance. I wish we could have created a little more."
On Gotham’s defense:
"They're a good team and a lot of respect, I felt there were a lot of moments where we broke their first line and second line, and then we didn't get that final ball behind the last line. We were really, really close. A lot of up-back throughs, a lot of third-player combinations. But just getting that final piece is kind of what we're missing. I think we could have exploited their high line a lot more, and I think that would have led to a lot more chances."
On the first half of the season:
"A lot of positives. We need to like, reset. Obviously, we will do a lot of work on the back end to make sure we reset ourselves and then hit the ground running. We played 12 games and there are still 16 left, I believe. So, still a lot more than just the second half of the season. You still have quite a few more games on that run. We'll be rock and roll on after the break for sure.”
HOUSTON DASH MIDFIELDER DANNY COLAPRICO
On the match:
"As a collective, we're disappointed with the result, but I think there were a lot of positives in the game. At the end of the day, we need to continue to put together a full 90-minute performance."
On going down a goal early in the match:
“Yeah, I thought I thought we had a lot of good moments. I thought we pressed well and we were very organized defensively. Again, as you said, we (conceded) an early goal. At the end of the day, they took advantage of their opportunities and we need to do a better job when we get in front of the goal to put it in the back of the net. Take some ownership on that and continue to be more dangerous in games."
On playing with Sarah Puntigam:
"Yeah. I feel like, Sarah (Puntigam) and I see the game very similarly. She has so much experience, especially playing with Austria and at the international level. I love Sarah. I think she sees the game so well. She's so smart on the ball and she just has the experience just helps us as a team, so much. Obviously, we have a lot of young ones out there but putting her in the midfield today really helped us be so organized."
On the state of the team:
"A lot of potential, I feel like that's the one thing about this team is that I see it every day at training. I know what we can do and these past few games have shown that. I feel like we've become more and more dangerous. We are finally finding our identity as a collective, and I think that the rookies are taking all that weight on their shoulders. They're really stepping up to the task and huge credit to them. They've evolved so much in the first part of the season and I'm really excited to see what comes next."
HOUSTON DASH MIDFIELDER SARAH PUNTIGAM
On the match:
"Unfortunately, we had a moment where we concede early. Gotham FC is a really good team, but I think it was a solid performance for us. Unfortunately, we didn't get the points from it, but there's a lot of positives to take from this game.”
On the positives from the match:
"We started well, I think we had control of the game. In this league the little moments decide games, and you could see that today. We were compact for the most part. We defended well; we had good offensive moments. We just need to capitalize on these moments in the offense and score some goals. Gotham FC had good defense. They haven't conceded a goal in a while, they're a really strong team but, we'll be back stronger after the break."
On how the team has grown this season:
"We had a lot of ups and downs. But we always stick together as a team. I'm so proud of the team and I'm so proud to be a part of this team. We have so much talent within us, and we just get closer and closer, and that will continue. We will attack in the second half of the season."
On Jane Campbell:
"Her (Jane Campbell) leadership is so good. We're so happy to have her on the team. She is a leader by example. She's such a hard worker and we're so happy to have her on the team. She's amazing."
