HOUSTON DASH HEAD COACH FABRICE GAUTRAT

On the effects on the game after giving up two early goals:

“It changes a lot, you are also at Kansas City against a really good team, going down 2-0 is not easy. So, it definitely affects us. I still think the group has a lot of resilience to come back and create some chances to come back. Obviously a disappointing (outcome) for sure.”

On getting the offense on track:

“With Mak (Makenzie Robbe) going down with Kiki (Van Zanten) going down, we are still figuring out what does that front four look like. What all of those pieces look like, so we are still working through that, I think huge kudos to Soph (Sophie Schmidt), even in the short time she was on the field, I think she created some really good chances. Overall, I think there were some positives to take for sure.”

On the quick turnaround:

“Yeah, we are at home, we have to defend our turf and we must come out to win the game. We have to definitely get back to that and do what we can to get back into (rhythm).”

HOUSTON DASH MIDFIELDER KAT RADER

On the match:

"We come into these games wanting to get three points. So, obviously disappointed that we didn't come out with that, but I think we did some good things. It's about being able to do more of those good things and then clean up some areas and obviously execute."

On the veteran guidance on the team:

"The veterans are awesome. It's obviously like a lot and especially in May we played a lot of games. What I'm learning is that every game in the league is challenging. It's just a lot different than what I've done before but having the veterans leading on-and-off the field and being so approachable for questions and feedback and everything like that, has been super helpful and made the transition easier than it could be otherwise."

On the positive takeaways from the match:

"We created some good chances in the second half, but more so than chances. We were just in and around their half, a lot like connecting passes in-and-around the box. We also need to be able to get higher quality shots on frame from that. But positives just in terms of like putting them under a little bit more pressure in their half.”

HOUSTON DASH MIDFIELDER SOPHIE SCHMIDT

On the message to the team during this stretch:

“This league is the most competitive league in the world, we knew that there were going to be tough games and moments where we wavered, but the messaging heading to this game was how do we regroup, kind of get back to that identity that we were at the beginning of the season. What was working well for us then, why were we successful and try to get back to that. There were moments of that in this game, definitely some bright spots. The beginning started a bit slow, unlucky with the first two goals, but I was proud of the way we bounced back. We are resilient, we fought our way in, but you know Kansas City is a phenomenal team, lots of threats, so kudos to them they had a good performance today.”

On the quick turnaround:

“We have to have that goldfish mindset, the next task is there. No point in dwelling on (this game) you know, getting too much in your head and getting down. We have another game, another three points on the line and we want to get the most out of this next little stretch heading into the break.”
