HOUSTON DASH HEAD COACH FABRICE GAUTRAT
On his conversations with Clarissa Larisey:
“We talked to Clarissa (Larisey) earlier in the week and I think she had really good performances between the 18s. We just talked through her mentality in the box? What are you feeling? What are you thinking? What does it look like to just be calm and composed? Forget about scoring the goal or creating the chance. Just like, just be calm, composed. So, we just talked through that. I'm really proud. I mean, obviously, those chances are hard chances to put away, and she did phenomenally well.”
On the match against Chicago on Wednesday:
“We have Chicago on Wednesday. That's a huge game for us. So, for us, it's great. Enjoy tonight, and then we get back to business. We take it one day at a time, one game at a time, and a big game for us on Wednesday. So, we're looking forward to that.”
HOUSTON DASH FORWARD CLARISSA LARISEY
On the match:
“The resilience that we have from the start to end, and like she (Paige Nielsen) said, I mean, people that are coming on the field and starting, it's just everyone's energy has been so amazing. This team really deserves the win today. The energy that we put in and the composure that we've had in this game. A win was well needed, for sure.”
On the team’s resilience:
“For us, we've been having a tough fight with the consistency of winning and getting points. I think, again, showing how hard we fought today and how well we deserve this win, I think, really said it all.”
On the message from the coaching staff:
“For us game changers, the ones that come onto the field (in the second half), it's just giving everything you can. At any point, I mean, we only have a certain amount of minutes to perform and to give opportunities and to be ruthless with scoring. Today, the two crosses that I got were incredible, right to me. Honestly, I can't score without a cross, so shout out to Avery (Patterson) and to Lisa (Boattin), because they found me perfectly, and, I mean, again, I was lucky enough to just get on the end of it and to finish it.”
HOUSTON DASH DEFENDER PAIGE NIELSEN
On the match:
“We needed those three points and thank goodness for this one. For the last couple minutes, it was a sick goal. We saw a clear connection. But I cannot tell you how proud I am of this group. It was a huge team performance and every single person on the field and off the field impacted today. It gives me the chills thinking about it, how much I love this group, and how much we've grown this year and we're going to continue to get better. Now we know exactly what it takes, fighting all the way to the end to get three points. Super proud of our team.”
On the team’s resilience:
“After we get scored on, there's like a fire that kind of lights, yeah, ignites under us, and then we talk after the game. We do video, and we're like, why can't we just come out like that? I think after this game, we're going to continue to work on that. But we showed it a little more today that we don't need to get scored on to light a fire. We're going to bring this game and move forward, and hopefully we can continue to get points that way.”
On keeping momentum going:
“This game was everything. This league rides a lot on momentum. We're gonna hopefully keep that. We have a lot of games in this stretch, a lot of away games, and a lot of team bonding. Hopefully it bonds us closer together, and we use this performance to hopefully not just score and produce results in ‘Dash time’ over time, but coming out strong and use the momentum to go forward and win games.”
