HOUSTON DASH HEAD COACH FABRICE GAUTRAT
On the match:
“I’m really proud of the group. You saw a lot of the defensive work that we have been working on since the break. Despite not having a lot of the ball. I thought we (played) very hard. I'm happy that we got the clean sheet. If you actually look at the last two games, we've been very good defensively. We've just allowed a goal, or however you want to look at it. So, I'm really proud with the group’s performance.”
On the committment and effort of the team blocking shots:
“If you see the growth of the team, early in the year we had so many numbers in the box, but not getting those blocks and not stepping out. I always have to put my hand up, be like, okay, how do we do better? Because we have it in us to do it. I'm just really happy because these players work so hard, we train, we have such an intense environment, and we do a lot of box work defensively and offensively. Our staff is incredible when it comes to that. I’m really pleased.”
On Clarissa Larisey’s performance:
“Her (Clarissa Larisey) ability to get in behind. You saw it prior to the goal happening where (Kailen) Sheridan had to come out quickly. You saw her ability to really stretch that line. I thought she was very clinical. She was composed in the box. She found the cut back and her goal speaks for itself. I don't think you can really have a better debut.”
On Yazmeen Ryan’s performance:
“Yazmeen (Ryan) is a rhythm player. The more she can touch the ball, the more she can have success. We've been a second half team in general; she's one of those players who keep just gaining momentum.”
On Jane Campbell’s performance:
“Jane's (Campbell) playing the best football since I've been here. She's had some fantastic years. Not only her shot-stopping, but her leadership. You can hear her from the sideline communicating. She’s a constant for us and I'm really happy, because of how the season started and to see where she's at right now. She's just in full swing, full confidence and is really our leader, our backbone back there.”
On the momentum moving forward:
“Utah have been very good since the break. Very tenacious, hard to break down, pressing well. So, it's going to be a dog fight. We're excited. We just keep it going and the one thing I'll say, we haven't talked about it but just shout out to the entire backline. Everyone, but I think the whole backline, the amount of blocked shots, stepping out as well, covering late cut backs. Those (players) need to get a lot of praise. I know we haven't talked too much about them this year, but they deserve a lot of praise.”
HOUSTON DASH DEFENDER ALLYSHA CHAPMAN
On the match:
“It was a great effort from top to bottom, especially defensively. We were throwing our bodies on the line. We just defended as one tonight and looked really strong.”
On the backline:
“We were throwing our bodies around the entire backline. Our sixes, our midfielders and Jane (Campbell) made some incredible saves. It shows our commitment and how bad we wanted it tonight.”
On Jane Campbell’s performance:
“She (Jane Campbell) had a tough start to the season, but she has rebounded hard. She's doing unbelievable and keeps us in the game. She always has. Last year, she had the most saves in a single season. So, this is not new for Jane, but some of the saves she makes are just incredible, and we're super lucky to have her here.”
On Clarissa Larisey’s performance:
“She (Clarissa Larisey) was great. She was getting in good spaces. She was breaking the line, getting in behind and capitalizing on the giveaways from their (San Diego Wave FC) backline and putting them under pressure. She had a solid game tonight and I'm happy for her goal and assist.”
On preparing for the next match against Utah:
“We were pretty pumped. It's been a while since we've got a shutout and put three goals on a team. So, we're going into Utah (Royals FC) with a lot of confidence, not overconfidence, but we're definitely ready. We know they just got a late tie in their last game and beat Portland (Thorns) the game before. They have a lot of confidence as well. It's going to be two teams at their peak at the moment, and it'll be a tough game, but we're looking forward to it.”
HOUSTON DASH FORWARD CLARISSA LARISEY
On the match:
“San Diego (Wave) is a very hard team, so we expected a really big battle, but we're very happy with the results.”
On her goal:
“I was not expecting the ball to get to me, but it did. I tried to do the most that I could with it. I was lucky enough to score. It was definitely not an easy pass, but very happy with the goal.”
On her assist and playing with the other Dash attackers:
“It's been really eye opening, just how amazing this team is but also this league. Just the runs and how easy they make it. I know I can put the ball in the box and someone's going to get on the end of it. Yazmeen (Ryan) was so composed and she finished it perfectly.”
On the mood in the locker room:
“The mood is great. High energy, vibes and lots of good music. We're just happy. Every game, every training session, we always bring good vibes and good energy. The season's not over, we’re playing game-by-game and training-by-training. We're trying to keep the positivity.”
