The Houston Dash have sent Yazmeen Ryan and Delanie Sheehan to Denver Summit in exchange for a transfer fee. Sports Illustrated was first to report the move yesterday. The Dash acquired $800,000 in Intra-League Transfer funds and $200,000 in Expansion Allocation funds from Denver for both players and $150,000 in allocation funds. The transaction includes up to $100,000 in conditional transfer funds that would raise the amount of funds going to Houston to $1.1 million plus an additional conditional sell-on fee tied to future player movement.
“We appreciate everything Yazmeen and Delanie contributed during their time in Houston. They brought a veteran presence during a transition period that paved the foundation for the team we have today and we wish them the best as they begin a new chapter in their careers,” President of Women’s Soccer, Angela Hucles Mangano said. “We did not anticipate this move at the start of the year, but it creates an opportunity for us to invest in players and resources that support our long-term vision and our ambition for the season ahead.”
Ryan and Sheehan joined the Dash from Gotham FC ahead of the 2025 season. Houston traded $400,000 in allocation money to acquire Ryan in December of 2024. Sheehan was signed as a free agent earlier that month. Ryan had a team-high four goals and three assists for the Dash last season.
Sheehan’s contract was set to expire at the end of the current season, with a mutual option for 2027. Ryan signed a new contract with the Dash through 2027 after her trade. Sheehan made 25 appearances in league play in her one season with Houston, scoring one goal and adding two assists. Both players started Saturday’s season opening match on the bench. Ryan came on in the 57th minute and Sheehan was an unused substitute.
With two of Houston’s big name players now gone and the NWSL Primary Transfer Window now closed, the Dash will shift to their young group of rookies. Four of them started in the win over San Diego last weekend and with Ryan and Sheehan heading to Denver, Linda Ullmark and Kat Rader will likely see the majority of minutes in the midfield and attacking areas for the Dash.
