The Houston Dash have added their fourth player this offseason from college, agreeing to a contract with North Carolina forward Kate Faasse through the 2028 season. Faase won the 2024 MAC Hermann Trophy as the nation’s best player. In her career, Faasse appeared in 88 matches for the Tar Heels across four seasons and scored 35 goals and tallied 15 assists.

“Kate is an elite competitor with a proven ability to change games in high-pressure moments,” President of Women’s Soccer Angela Hucles Mangano said. “Her production, consistency and success at the national level speak volumes about what she can bring to the Houston Dash. Her winning mentality and attacking presence will elevate our group and play an important role as we continue to build toward the future in Houston.”

Faasse burst onto the scene in her junior season with the Tar Heels in 2024. After not starting any matches in her first two seasons at UNC, Faasse started 27 matches and scored 20 goals, while adding four assists. She helped lead North Carolina to the National Championship and won the MAC Hermann Trophy. She followed that up in 2025 with 11 goals and 6 assists in 21 appearances while leading the team in minutes played. Faasse was called into USWNT Futures Camp by head coach Emma Hayes in January of last year.

“I’m incredibly excited to begin my professional career with the Houston Dash,” Faasse said. “Houston is an ambitious club with a clear vision, and I’m looking forward to continuing my growth in a professional environment. I’m ready to work, compete and contribute however I can to help the team succeed this season.”

Faasse gives the Dash another option in attack, for a team that struggled scoring goals in the 2025 season. Houston finished with just 27 goals scored in 26 league matches, the second lowest in the NWSL. Faasse will now join a striker group with Clarissa Larisey, Messiah Bright, Amanda West, and fellow rookie Kat Rader.
