On the match:
"I challenged the group to start fast today. We all know that we consistently do really well as the game progresses, but if you look at our first half, I thought we were definitely the better team. We were on the front foot. We just got to start putting our shots on frame. Sometimes it was that final ball, if we just hit that final ball, we're in behind. Overall, some really solid performances and I’m just proud of the group. Not only a good defensive performance, but also the clean sheet to support it. So, kudos to everyone. I thought Jane (Campbell) was huge. I thought the backline was huge, the sixes, and everyone, especially on the defensive side.”
On the team’s defense:
“There are moments in the game where (Bay FC) have the ball in the attacking half. They are also a great team, a lot of young and dynamic players that are very comfortable on the ball. There's going to be times you get broken, right? So, I think for us, it's bend but don't break. I still feel the quality of their chances weren’t so high. They had a few, but it wasn't point-blank ranges and things like that. I thought Jane (Campbell) came up huge on some of those.”
On the game changers:
“It's our (trademark). If I'm the opposition, deadlock and up a goal, it's never safe towards the end. Kudos to the mentality and the belief that we have in the locker room. Also, the belief that every player can step up. If you look at all our game changers who came on, they changed the game positively. That has been a consistent trend for us. Game changers coming in. I know sometimes the rookie gets the glory and the goals, but if you look at players like Sarah (Puntigam), Soph (Sophie Schumit) and Clarissa (Larisey) who came in, they really boosted us, and obviously Malia (Berkely) and Lisa (Boattin) to close out the game, I thought, was huge.”
HOUSTON DASH DEFENDER AVERY PATTERSON
On the match:
“A huge win for us. This is our first win coming back from the break and (since Angel City at home in May). Okay, so our first win in a while. I think the last couple games, you could argue that we could have, you know, found the back of the net a couple more times, could have put a tackle in that would have prevented a goal or two. So, I mean, I said in an interview earlier this week that we were inches away in the offensive and defensive thirds. Tonight, we closed that gap and we fixed all of our little mistakes.”
On the play leading to the goal:
“Yeah, I could walk you through the two plays that led to the game-winning goal. I lost the ball first in the midfield, and then I think Malia (Berkely) or someone on our backline did a really good job of winning the ball back, or they ended up getting a shot on goal. I raised my hand. I was like, that was totally my fault, and then I kind of knew that I had to make up for that huge mishap. So, Malia played me a good ball in. I played a knock-and-go with Kat (Rader), she played right to my feet, right in my stride, and yeah, Linda (Ullmark) honestly did the rest. I dribbled over midfield, found her and good on Linda because she was due. She was always going to finish for us tonight.”
On coming back from the break:
“It's always going to take any good team (time) to get back into their groove. I mean, you can train as much as you want, but this is a long season. We're only halfway through it now, so I think giving everyone the time to mentally and physically recuperate over those six weeks was really important. I wouldn't say we lost anything. I would say it was actually a positive having those six weeks come when they did. One of our assistant coaches, Jaime (Frias), said that going into that break, that was now our floor, our ceiling was now our floor, that's what he said. Everyone kind of took that to heart. It's really, I don't want to say hard, but getting back into that mental headspace and getting back into that physical, you know, mode after being off for six weeks, like you said, is going to take a second. But I wouldn't call it a loss. I would say that it was actually positive for us.”
On the team’s mentality:
"It's something unique and it's something that I'm very fortunate to be a part of. It's a feeling of belief, it's grit, it's a culmination of all the things. But I think at the end of the day, we all believe in each other and we all trust each other to get the job done. Whether that be in the first 45 or the last 15. So, it's reassuring to know that we won't give up, no matter what.”

On the match:
"It was a dog fight and Fabrice (Gautrat) mentioned that we would have to be dogs when we're defending, and I think we definitely were. It was great to get a late goal again and finish the game off with a win."
On the atmosphere in the stadium:
“It felt great. The (Langham Creek HS) band was there and they're amazing, so the environment was really nice to play in. Thankfully it was a little cooler tonight, so that felt good as well. We have some amazing fans and I love when they come out here on a Friday night. It's really great and it gives us a lot of energy."
On scoring the game-winning goal:
"It means a lot. I am so grateful I can help my team and start scoring goals. It was a great pass from my teammates, so I give all the props to them for doing the work and giving me the ball."
On being patient for that shot:
"It was really important to stay patient and keep fighting in order to finish the game out. We believed that we could score. Many teams would give up in those last couple minutes, we just have a really gritty team, and it starts with our defense and finding those pockets and driving forward with individual qualities to getting the ball in the final third."
On Jane Campbell:
“She (Jane Campbell) is incredible, I don't even know how she does things, some of the shots she saves, is really amazing and I love training with her. Sometimes it's hard, but it makes us so much better. When you have a great goalie like that in practice, you've got to shoot the ball really well to score on her and that really helps us improve."
