Houston Dash vs Gotham FC staff picks

The Houston Dash are back at Shell Energy Stadium looking for back-to-back wins. We asked our staff for their predictions on tonight’s match against Gotham FC.

Rudy - 1-0 Dash loss
(Record: 4-7)

Houston earned an important win last week in a match they probably could have lost, in hindsight. This week, though, presents a tougher test. Even with their head coach on parental leave, I expect Gotham to control possession, keep the Dash away from goal, and find a way to win.

Dustyn - 3-1 Dash loss
(Record: 6-5)

Gotham is just a better team than the Dash. Esther Gonzalez is gone but Sam Kerr is ready to lead the line. There’s talent all over that Gotham roster and I think that’ll win out in the end.

Manny - 1-1 draw
(Record: 5-6)

With the weight off their shoulders from last week’s win, the Dash are coming in with everything to play for to climb the table. Gotham are still, on paper, the favorites to win but they face some questions with head coach Juan Carlos Amorons on leave and defender Emily Sonnett out for the season. This will be enough to balance the playing field and get Houston a needed point against a top team.

Joey - 2-1 Dash loss
(Record: 3-4)

Gotham are in hot form with 5 wins in their last 7 matches. They should comfortably come into Houston and get a result against a mediocre Dash team struggling for consistency.

Diego - 1-0 Dash win
(Record: 5-3)

This game has so many storylines, whether it be Khyah Harper facing off against her former team in her first match as a Dash player, Emily Sonnett getting a season-ending injury just a week ago, and Miljana Ivanovic’s potential first minutes. It’s all unclear and doesn’t point to a convincing game on either end of the match. This, is often when Houston has shined and I find this to be another late goal match.
