The Houston Dash picked up a point after a 0-0 draw against Seattle Reign at Shell Energy Stadium. Let’s take a look at how everyone performed.
Starters
Jane Campbell - 8
Campbell made five saves, including a couple of big ones early on, to keep Seattle off the scoresheet.
Lisa Boattin - 6.5
Boattin continues to gain fitness, she played 62 minutes in this match. Her ability to get into the attack on the left wing is a dangerous weapon for Houston.
Leah Klenke - 7.5
Klenke had another very strong performance, starting at center back and then moving to left back later in the match. She had 11 defensive contributions on the night.
Malia Berkely - 7
Berkely started in place of Paige Nielsen this week. It looks like Gautrat likes Boattin and Klenke at left and left center back, leaving just one other spot for the veterans.
Avery Patterson - 7
Patterson was on the ball a lot, with a match-high 76 toucehs. She got into the box often and hit the post with a deflected shot in the second half.
Kat Rader - 6
Rader didn;t have her best match but she still played well. She’s still a rookie, bbut her set piece delivery wasn’t sharp and she missed out on some passes that could have been dangerous.
Danielle Colaprico - 7
Steady as she goes. Another Colaprico performance where she puts in a shift and keeps the Dash midfield balanced and composed.
Maggie Graham - 6.5
Graham was into the final third a lot more this match and her passing was good. As she gets more into the attack and gets chances for herself or setting them up for teammates, she and the Dash will keep improving.
Linda Ullmark - 7
Ullmark led the team with four shots, with one on target that Seattle goalkeeper Claudia Dickey did well to save in just the second minute. She also created two chances.
Kiki Van Zanten - 7
Van Zanten was held scoreless again after her blistering start to the season. She’s still getting in good positions and is involved in good link-up play, so the goals will come.
Kate Faasse - 6.5
Faasse does a lot of the dirty work but again she was fairly quiet. She had just 12 touches in her 62 minutes on the field, and registered just one shot.
Substitutes
Paige Nielsen - 6.5
Nielsen came on to help lock the defense down for the last 30 minutes, and move Klenke to outside back. It will be interesting to see if Nielsen or Berkely emerges as the starter at the other center back position.
Clarissa Larisey - 6
Just six touches in 28 minutes, with one of those in the opposition box, is not ideal from a striker off the bench when you need a goal. The Dash simply need more from all of their strikers outside Van Zanten.
Cate Hardin - 6.5
Gautray has talked about Hardin’s versatility and ability to play multiple positions. She showed it in this match, slotting into central midfield and putting in a good shift.
Sarah Puntigam - 6
Puntigam is a veteran that Gautrat has a lot of trust in. She is going to get a lot of appearances this season like this, coming in late to help find a result.
Messiah Bright - N/A
Bright played just nine minutes, and stoppage time, with just five touches.
Head Coach
Fabrice Gautrat - 7.5
The Dash defense has been solid and it looks like Gautrat has his preferred back four in place with Boattin, Klenke, Patterson, and one of Nielsen or Berkely. His next task will be to find something that work offensively, to help Van Zanten shoulder the scoring load.
