HOUSTON DASH HEAD COACH FABRICE GAUTRAT
On the match:
“Overall, this is probably a fair result. Both teams had some chances. I don'tthink we created that many. The one thing I'm really proud of is the clean sheet and thegrittiness. It's hard to get points in this league and to get a draw, even though it wasn't maybeour best performance. I think overall, there were a lot of positives from the game, especiallyfrom a defensive side.”
On the team’s performance in the bad weather:
“For the most part, even without the ball, Ithought we defended well. We kept our lines tight. I thought we also defended as one. There's aclip, in the 75th minute where we lose the ball in the front third, and everyone is just sprintingback to get behind the ball. That’s been a big key for us this week and an improvement from thelast game. It was good all-around defensive work.”
On the performance of Lisa Boaatin and Kate Faasse:
“Overall, I think a lot ofquality from both (Lisa Boattin and Kate Faasse). I thought Lisa, especially from a possessionstandpoint, had a lot to contribute. Then Kate (Faasse), we're still working through it. I thoughtshe had some good runs in behind. Obviously, she works her tail off. I think she's done well, it'sher third game now, so we’ve got to keep growing her minutes as well.”
HOUSTON DASH DEFENDER LEAH KLENKE
On the match:
“It was a good game from both sides. Seattle (Reign FC) came out andplayed hard and so did we. It was a hard-fought draw. A lot to take away. We obviously wanted to come out with three points, but not the worst, coming out with the draw and with theseconditions, but we're definitely hungry for more, and we're ready to win the next game.”
On the playing conditions:
“The weather is no excuse, because both teams have to play in it.For now, it's all about just coming together after this draw, figuring out what works, what doesn't,and getting on the same page, whether that is offensively or defensively. We have a lot of takein. We're going to take a lot away from this game, and just be ready. We'll be hungry for the nextgame to score some goals.”
On the positives from the defense:
“I think for everyone on the team, as a backline, as everyonecollectively, it's great to get a clean sheet tonight, and that comes from everyone, starting fromthe forwards all the way back to the defenders and the goalkeeper. So that's definitely onepositive to take away and take with us for the next game.”
HOUSTON DASH DEFENDER MALIA BERKELY
On the match:
"We’re disappointed with the result. We definitely came out better than wedid in the last game (against North Carolina Courage). There was more energy, the main focusfor us this week was to be that high-energy team. We’re just disappointed that we didn’t find theback of the net, but we’re happy with the clean sheet, so hopefully we can keep movingforward."
On the playing conditions and the team’s offense:
"You can’t really blame what you can’t control. Weather and field conditions are going to happen, a lot of the focus in the last couple of weekshas been on quality shots. We need to get back into taking shots, and focusing on the quality ifour shot count is down. Then it's just making more quality chances through every third, not justin our final third. As long as we're keeping it out of our own net, the opportunities are going tocome, and they are coming. We just need to finish them."
On freedom and rotations:
“The whole team has been given more freedom, and I think you cansee it out on the field. We have a lot of rotations. Players have starting positions, but the waythat we rotate, makes it really difficult for other teams’ defenses to kind of shut us down. Maybewe’ve lost a little bit of that in the past couple of games because our offense hasn’t beenshooting as much. If we stay on the path that we’re on and keep building that going forward, wehave young players, so sometimes it takes a little bit for something to kick back in. If we’readding in new pieces, they might lose a little bit of what we were working on before. So, it’sabout finding a balance within the whole team to get on the same page."
On the fans:
“All of us really appreciate it. I know it's really not fun to sit there in a game whereit's just pouring down like that, it's cold, it's wet, but we really appreciate you (the fans). We hearyou out there. We love having you guys there and just thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We love the band. They were awesome."
