Three Players to Watch: Kansas City Current

The Houston Dash are back at Shell Energy Stadium on Saturday night. Here are three Kansas City Current players to keep an eye on in the match.

Debinha

The veteran Brazilian playmaker will be pivotal for Kansas City during these summer matches with Temwa Chawinga away at WAFCON. Since the start of the season, Debinha has often taken a supporting role, allowing Croix Bethune and Chawinga to lead the attack. With Chawinga away, however, Debinha has taken a step forward and will become one of the team's primary attacking threats. With three goals and one assist on the season, she will look to increase her goal contributions and help fill the void.

Croix Bethune

The young star has been phenomenal for the Current this season. With seven assists and three goals, Bethune is on pace to surpass her impressive rookie-season numbers. She has been instrumental in helping Kansas City climb back into the playoff picture and remain in the conversation for the NWSL Shield. Alongside Lo'eau LaBonta, Bethune has become the heartbeat of the midfield, combining creativity and technical ability with a knack for delivering when the team needs it most.

Izzy Rodriguez

The veteran defender has seen an uptick in her performance for the Current. Since the restart, Rodriguez has been excellent at fullback, providing the team with another avenue of attack while Chawinga is away. She has not only contributed more going forward but has remained reliable defensively as well. With her recent run of form, Rodriguez will be key to Kansas City's efforts to keep a clean sheet.
