Houston Dynamo 2 split their last two matches in MLS NEXT Pro play. Dos lost 3-2 against Sporting KC II on July 31 but rebounded with a 3-0 win against Real Monarchs on August 8.

Arthur Sousa scored the first goal of the match against Kansas City in the 19th minute after KC lost the ball inside their own box as they tried to build up. Gustavo Dohmann intercepted the ball and gave Sousa a clean look at goal.

Daniel Barrett was sent off with a red card shortly after, and Sporting KC II rebounded with two goals from Kashan Hines, one in the 43rd minute and the other in the 71st.

Missael Rodriguez made the game 3-1 in the 77th minute before Austin Brummett scored a penalty in the 79th minute and gave Houston a lifeline. But, the comeback fell just short as Houston lost a close one, with the red card proving costly.

DynaDos were able to rebound from this loss with a 3-0 bashing against the Real Monarchs. The Utah club started the game off horribly after Dylan Kropp was sent off in the fifth minute for a last-man foul, prompting a tactical switch from the Monarchs. In Houston’s last seven matches, there have been a combined seven red cards between the Dynamo and their opponents.

Houston took advantage of the early red card for the Monarchs, and Reese Miller opened the scoring in the 16th minute. Mattheo Dimareli doubled Dynamo 2’s lead in the 19th minute.

In the 74th minute, Real Monarchs substitute Nicholas Silva was sent off, making it two on the day for them and making them finish the match with nine men.

Less than 10 minutes later, Jahmani Bell delivered the dagger in the 83rd minute thanks to an assist from Vinicius Silva.

More importantly than the 3-0 scoreline, Houston was able to hold a clean sheet, their first one since early July. Dynamo 2 will return to action on Friday, August 14 against Ventura County FC at SaberCats Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 PM, and fans can watch the game online on Youtube or the OneFootball app.
