The Houston Dynamo have four points in their last two matches and now return to Shell Energy Stadium for another big Western Conference match up against the Colorado Rapids. The Dynamo are coming off a disappointing 1-1 draw against a 10 man LA Galaxy in their last match. Colorado picked up a 3-2 win over expansion San Diego FC last weekend.

Let it Lingr

It’s been a long wait but the Dynamo’s newest Designated Player, Ondrej Lingr, is set to make his debut in tonight’s match. The question will be, does he start or come off the bench? This Houston team desperately needs more spark on offense and Lingr should provide that. Ben Olsen spoke on Friday about Lingr’s vertical running ability and how he is different than any of the other 10s they have. If Lingr and Ezequiel Ponce can start building a relationship in front of goal, this Dynamo offense should begin to take off.

Bond, Jonathan Bond

We could see another debut tonight, this one in goal for the Dynamo. Olsen mentioned Friday how Blake Gillingham did a good job for the team over this stretch and now they have Bond providing competition. The Englishman has tons of experience, including in Major League Soccer, and it’s only a matter of time before he takes over as the starting goalkeeper. Fans will be bummed to see Gillingham relegated to back up (or maybe third string again with Jimmy Maurer nearing a return from injury) but the veteran leadership of Bond will be a good addition to the back line.

Djordje Magic

The Colorado Rapids are once again off to a good start in 2025 and that is thanks in large part to their playmaker Djordje Mihailovic. The 26-year-old has three goals and assist this season and he is a chance creating maching for the Rapids. Olsen spoke about how Mihailovic is very good at creating from anywhere on the field, meaning the Dynamo can’t afford to lose track of him over the 90 minutes. Look for Artur to follow Mihailovic around and try and stifle the Colorado attack before it can get started.
