2025 in review
The numbers would tell you that Amine Bassi was one of the better creators in Major League Soccer in his first two seasons with the Houston Dynamo. With that being said, it was obvious that he needed to add goals to his arsenal. However, 2025 saw Bassi take a dip in production in all areas. Creating shots, which he was so good at, went from 5.55 shots created per 90 minutes in 2024 to 3.76 in 2025. Bassi’s last seven appearances in league play all came off the bench as Lawrence Ennali, Ondrej Lingr, and Jack McGlynn became the preferred attacking triumverate for Houston.
Moment of the season
Bassi got the Dynamo season off to a good start, scoring the opening goal of the 2025 campaign to give Houston a 1-0 lead in the first half of the opener against FC Dallas. But, much like Bassi’s season, that game went downhill, ending in a 2-1 loss for the Dynamo against their in-state rival.
Looking forward
The club announced that they were in discussions with Bassi about a return for 2026. If you’ve seen Bassi’s Instagram stories this week, however, it looks like he has begun saying his goodbyes. As a TAM player who isn’t starting most games or contributing goals and assists, it makes sense to get Bassi’s salary off the books. He had his moments in Houston but it feels like it is time to move on.
