2025 in review

Daniel Steres entered his fourth season with the Houston Dynamo as a trusted veteran and depth option along the backline. Initially, he was slated to provide cover at left back behind Franco Escobar while also serving as an emergency option at center back when needed. But a lingering hip injury derailed his entire season before it ever gained momentum.

As Felipe Andrade broke into the first team and claimed the left back spot, Steres saw his opportunities disappear. With Houston struggling through constant injuries and instability at center back, his experience would have been valuable, but physically he simply wasn’t able to contribute consistently. His season reflected the broader theme of the Dynamo’s year — high expectations undermined by injuries and bad fortune.

Moment of the season

Unlike many of his teammates, Steres didn’t really have a defining moment this season. The matches where he played extended minutes often ended in defeat, and his injury setbacks kept him from making a real impact. It was a quiet and frustrating campaign for a player who has always been known for professionalism and reliability.

Looking forward

The Dynamo announced they would not pick up Daniel Steres’ option for 2026, signaling the end of his time in Houston. While his contributions were limited this year, he leaves as a respected veteran who provided leadership during his four seasons with the club. His next step remains uncertain, but if healthy, his experience could still be valued elsewhere in MLS or beyond.
