Houston Dynamo at Austin FC player ratings

The Houston Dynamo made changes and looked organized, but sometimes that’s not enough. In a match where Houston had stretches of control, Austin FC made their moments count. Two well-taken goals were the difference, and despite a solid overall structure, the Dynamo couldn’t find a way back into it. Let’s take a look at how everyone performed.
Starters
Jonathan Bond - 5.5
Bond didn’t have much of a chance on either of Austin’s goals. Both finishes came from dangerous positions, leaving him exposed. Outside of that, he handled his responsibilities well enough, but it wasn’t a night where he could swing the result.
Sam Vines - 5.5
Vines worked up and down the flank but didn’t have a major impact on either side of the ball. Defensively he had some difficult moments, and going forward he couldn’t quite influence the attack.
Agustin Resch - 5.5
Resch had a tougher outing this time around. He showed flashes of his potential but was tested more often and struggled to deal with Austin’s movement in key moments.
Erik Sviatchenko - 6.5
A steady performance from the veteran. He organized the back line and handled defensive duties well for most of the match. Not much he could do on the goals, but his leadership remained clear throughout.
Felipe Andrade - 5.5
Andrade had a quiet night. He stayed involved defensively but didn’t stand out, and Houston needed a bit more presence from him in key moments.
Lawrence Ennali - 6
Ennali showed flashes going forward, using his pace to get into space. But like much of Houston’s attack, the final ball and connection in the box just weren’t there.
Héctor Herrera – 6.5
Herrera brought composure in midfield, helping Houston maintain possession and control stretches of the match. He tried to dictate tempo, but the final product in attack never followed.
Artur - 6
Artur got his first start of the season and he put in a workmanlike shift, covering ground and helping defensively. He kept things simple in possession but didn’t have a major influence on the game.
Mateusz Bogusz - 6.5
Bogusz stayed involved and looked to create chances, but never quite found that decisive moment. He had a few looks at goal and linked play well, but Houston needed more end product.
Guilherme - 7
Guilherme was again one of Houston’s more dangerous players. He looked to take defenders on and create something out of nothing, but didn’t get the support needed to turn his efforts into goals.
Ezequiel Ponce - 6
Ponce worked hard and contributed with his hold-up play, but clear chances were hard to come by. He remained involved but couldn’t find a breakthrough.
Substitutes
Antonio Carlos - 6
Antonio Carlos came on and provided some defensive stability, helping Houston stay organized as they pushed for a way back into the match.
Diadié Samassékou – 6.5
Samassékou added energy in midfield and helped disrupt Austin’s rhythm. His defensive work stood out as Houston tried to regain control late.
Jack McGlynn – 6.5
Back on the team sheet after several weeks out, McGlynn made a positive return. He looked comfortable on the ball and helped move play forward, offering a glimpse of what he brings when fully fit.
Nick Markanich – 6
Markanich came on to add presence in attack and tried to make things happen, but opportunities were limited late in the match.
Aliyu Ibrahim – N/A
Aliyu entered late and didn’t have enough time to make an impact as Houston searched for a late response.
Head Coach
Ben Olsen - 7
Olsen made several changes to the lineup and, for the most part, the setup worked. Houston looked organized and competitive, but the goals conceded were difficult to stop and ultimately decided the match. It’s one to move past quickly, with focus shifting to the upcoming U.S. Open Cup clash against Louisville City.
