Houston Dynamo at Austin FC staff picks

The Houston Dynamo will try to continue their climb up the Western Conference standings tonight in central Texas. We asked our staff for their predictions on the match against Austin FC.

Cristian - 3-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 6-1)

Houston is riding very high lately, while Austin is on a downward slope. Can Houston keep the momentum and ride the wave in an away derby match? (Are we all in consensus that Austin has become more of a rival than Dallas?) Will Guilherme and company give a good showing in their match against Austin, like they did in Dallas? I think they can and will. The starting eleven will be vital and I believe Ben Olsen has gotten closer to finding his “true” eleven in the right formation.

Rudy - 2-2 draw
(Record: 3-5)

Houston shook off that losing streak in style, and you can feel the confidence starting to build, something Austin FC seems to be lacking at the moment. That said, the Houston Dynamo have historically struggled against the Verde, so this won’t come easy. Still, there’s a sense Houston might have enough to grind out a result and potentially steal a point at Q2 Stadium.

Joey - no pick
(Record: 2-3)

Dustyn - 0-0 draw
(Record: 2-6)

You can tell looking at my record that I have no idea what to think of this Houston Dynamo team this season. So, a 0-0 draw in the first derby against Austin in 2026? Sure, let’s go with it.

Manny - 1-1 draw
(Record 2-5)

The Dynamo have found some form during these last few games, but some old habits are back with Ondrej Lingr’s red card against San Diego. I believe the Dynamo have more than enough to take advantage of this lost Austin side. But will their tendencies hold the Dynamo back? With red cards and letting opponents back into games, it will be an interesting derby match.

Juan - 2-0 Dynamo win
(Record 5-3)

For the first time this season, The Dynamo have momentum. Austin, on the other hand, sit near the bottom of the table. If the Dynamo can get better performances from their DPs, then the rest should fall into place for Ben Olsen’s squad.

Dynastats - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record 6-2)

The Houston Dynamo find themselves on a winning streak and face another weak opponent today. The Dynamo should attack this Austin team on the counter and get their second win at Q2 tonight.
