The Houston Dynamo’s winning streak came to a halt at Q2 Stadium with a 2-0 loss to Austin FC on Saturday night. Austin scored twice in the first half and the Dynamo couldn’t get a goal.

Head coach Ben Olsen made some changes to the lineup, bringing Hector Herrera back into the starting eleven, along with Artur, making his first start of 2026. Ezequiel Ponce returned to the eleven with Ondrej Lingr suspended.

Austin went ahead early, something that has plagued this Dynamo team this year. Jayden Nelson took a nice cross-field pass from Facundo Torres. The Canadian winger cut into the box and curled a shot perfectly in off the back post to give Austin the 1-0 lead.

Mytro Uzuni doubled Austin’s lead just before halftime. A free kick from the top of the box took a wicked deflection and left Jonathan Bond stranded. Austin took their 2-0 lead into half time.

The Dynamo were unable to find anything going forward in the second half to get back into the match. One bright spot for Houston, Jack McGlynn made his return from injury, coming off the bench in the second half. The 2-0 loss put and end to the Dynamo’s two match winning streak in the league and three matches in all competitions.

Houston will look to rebound as they return to Shell Energy Stadium on Wednesday for the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Round of 16. The Dynamo will host USL Championship side Louisville City FC.
